A few weeks ago, we had the pleasure of visiting one of our favorite Florida destinations, Islamorada in the Keys. It is a quick 3 hour drive from Palm Beach, yet feels like islands you would have to travel far away to find. The easy drive, turquoise water, island lifestyle, and fabulous restaurants and activities make this a family favorite we come back to again and again. For this vacation, we were blessed to stay at the Sapodilla House and can’t wait to share more of this vacation rental with you today because you can now book it, too!
Vacation rental homes have been a game changer for the travel world, especially for big families or larger groups that are celebrating special occasions. The Sapodilla House is the perfect example of an incredible vacation home that has done a wonderful job with design and hospitality! When we arrived at the 5 bedroom, 5 bathroom property, we were greeted by an expansive waterfront home with a private gate that was a nice layer of security.
The home warmly welcomed us with a light, bright and airy layout that beautifully highlights the local elements via water views, natural furniture and island decor. We took full advantage of relaxing in the sunroom that overlooks the water. We also enjoyed having our own private bar and loved listening to music on speakers throughout the home.
One of the biggest perks of vacationing in a home is being able to use a luxury kitchen, especially when you are somewhere fun like the Keys! The Sapodilla House is stocked with high-end appliances, cookware and fun custom drinkware that we used during our stay. We filled up on groceries and Jason loved playing chef here. The kids liked sitting in the barstools and the adults loved playing RummiKub at the dining table and breakfast nook.
Speaking of games, the Sapodilla House is stocked with all kinds of fun games! In the living room, we played Checkers on their game table that also converts to Chess. They also have a pool table that overlooks the patio, as well as a full game room downstairs with air hockey and shuffleboard tables, two arcade games, bunk beds, and a pullout sofa that makes for the perfect kids room. Upstairs are three king bedrooms with two ensuite bathrooms and an additional shared bathroom. There is plenty of room here for the whole family!
Outside is a whole gem in itself with every outdoor amenity you can think of! The kids had a blast playing in the pool while we brushed up on our ping pong game. Under the tiki hut, we enjoyed shade and a gentle breeze, but the real show stopper is the outdoor kitchen. It features 2 Big Green Eggs, a grill, a pizza oven, and a twelve person table for al fresco dining. We grilled burgers and steaks, made homemade pizzas and fried fish here!
The Sapodilla House also has a fully-equipped dock, so we brought our pink and mint Palm Yachts down with us and had a blast bouncing all around the islands with them. The water right behind the house was filled with sea life like fish (Mangrove Snappers, Angel Fish, Parrot Fish, Barracuda, and more), jellyfish, an eel, and even a sweet mom and baby manatee. We also used the boats to go snorkeling, visit a couple nearby sandbars and ride around on sunset cruises. This vacation was certainly one we will never forget!
