Last week we were so happy to be back in our favorite home away from home, Nantucket! This year was our third summer vacationing there, and we can’t say enough wonderful things about it. Last year we did a complete Guide to Nantucket that you have to check out if you are planning a trip, and this year we can’t wait to share a few more fun adventures with you. Today we are kicking it off with the delicious family picnic we had at Harborview!
Each year we have been to Nantucket, we have stayed at Harborview Nantucket <you can see our past stays here and here>. It is a little slice of heaven made of 11 luxurious cottages ranging from 1 to 4 bedrooms and is located right in town near all of the best restaurants and shops and on the harbor. All of their accommodations are clean, chic and comfortable with special touches like fireplaces, full kitchens, and fabulous bedding and bathrooms!
We also love that they have an incredible on-property staff to provide the highest level of personal concierge services. Morag, Matt, David, and Mary seamlessly work together and tend to their guests, doing everything from grocery shopping to beach services to car transfers to/from the airport. They are so caring, thoughtful and do their best to elevate the vacation. We really adore them and always look forward to spending time with them, too!
One of our other favorite touches is their gorgeous lawn behind all of the cottages that gives our kids a beautiful, safe place to run and play. We like to use it as much as possible, so last year we had a clambake dinner on the lawn and this year we set up a festive summer picnic with lobster rolls! We shipped our picnic basket, striped towels and wicker tray up so we could use them and ordered local food favorites to-go like Provisions lobster rolls, Cape Cod potato chips and Cisco Brewers beer and wine. It was classic Nantucket at its best!
Knowing how much our kids love to run and play on Harborview’s lawn, we had these fun flag kites shipped ahead of time for the kids to use. They also went with these adorable striped swimsuits from our favorite kids swim line, Minnow. After we finished our picnic, we put the kites together and helped the kids take turns flying the kites and racing each other. It’s crazy how much all of our kids have grown since last summer here. We see how fast the time is flying by, so we really cherish these special moments together as a family!
After the kids ran and ran, we brought them down to Harborview’s private sandy beach. It is just steps from the cottages and the calm waters were perfect for the kids to take turns paddling around on the complimentary paddleboards with their dads. We also love looking at all of the boats in the harbor and visiting the cute little Aquarium right next door!
