Travel: Staycation at The Colony

Travel: Staycation at The Colony Palm Beach with Palm Beach Lately

As summer break comes to a close, we wanted to celebrate the end of it with a staycation at The Colony Palm Beach. There is something very special about being a tourist in your own town and experiencing it like an out-of-towner. So we packed our weekend bags and headed to the hotel for sunshine, sand, a picnic by the sea, delicious food, breakfast in bed, and much more. Come along today as we share our fave highlights from last weekend!

For families interested in staying at The Colony, our favorite accommodations are their beautiful villas located across the street from the main hotel. The villas are very private and spacious and each one is distinctly decorated with the most stylish furniture and decor. Beth’s family stayed in Villa Bougainvillea <seen above>, the stunning two-bedroom villa that was recently refreshed by The Colony Hotel owner and CEO, Sarah Wetenhall. We love that this unit features pastels like blush and mint and has an oversized main living space.

After checking into our villas, we headed down to the beach for The Colony’s signature picnic experience. The concierge team at The Colony sets up blush striped chairs and umbrellas, pink coolers, towels, and your pre-selected food and beverage from their restaurant, Swifty’s Pool, to enjoy by the sea. It’s a great activity for adults to sit back and relax while the kids play in the sand and by the shore. Our favorite bites to eat included their Colossal Shrimp Cocktail, Crushed Avocado, Colony Club, and Maine Lobster Roll!

We woke up to rain showers the next morning, which made the perfect setting for breakfast in bed in our family’s villa, the Sisters Suite by Serena & Lily and Palm Beach Lately. It was such a pleasure to stay in the villa that we decorated two years ago with Serena & Lily. The decor brings a playful, sunny vacation vibe for both the adults and children. For breakfast, we ordered from The Colony’s In-Room Dining Menu that included The Colony Breakfast, Classic Buttermilk Pancakes, Cereal Crusted French Toast, and Huevos Rancheros!

When the sun came out, we jumped into our suits and headed to the pool. Villa guests share a private pool and can also use the main hotel pool, so we bounced between both pools during our stay. The main pool is lively and great for socializing, and the villa pool is ideal for children to play without parents worrying about bothering the nearby guests. We also enjoyed live music by the pool on Saturday early evening and love The Colony’s cute new bikes that are available for guests.

It was a very sweet weekend making family memories and wrapping up the summer season. For families who want a colorful, playful, beach and poolside vacation, The Colony is the perfect spot… you’ll be so glad you came!
