Beautiful Living: By House Beautiful's Lisa Cregan
Palm Beach Lately had the pleasure of meeting longtime House Beautiful contributor, Lisa Cregan, at her book signing last season in Palm Beach. Cregan, who lives in Palm Beach, is the author of recently-released House Beautiful Kitchens, House Beautiful Style 101, House Beautiful Blue and also has House Beautiful Color due out Spring 2013. She also writes regularly about design for the Chicago Tribune, Traditional Home and Coastal Living. While interviewing scores of designers for House Beautiful Style 101, Cregan was amazed that every designer was so generous in sharing ideas and tips. Her current obsessions? Pinterest, Gustavian furniture, hunting for vintage mercury glass and china at Dixie Highway estate sales and framed pressed seaweeds. Click on the links below to get your copies today!

Have You Been Wondering... What Is Palm Beach Lately?
Palm Beach's "season" has officially kicked off, which means Palm Beach Lately is in full swing covering the island's best happenings. Now is the perfect time to take a minute to explain who we are, what we do and how you can stay connected with us, so you don't miss out!
What is Palm Beach Lately?
Palm Beach Lately is Palm Beach's modern online guide that features the island's best and latest in beauty, living, social and style. The easiest and savviest way to stay in-the-know, Palm Beach Lately connects thousands of readers to insider tips, exclusive interviews, current events and sneak peeks from around the island.
Who created Palm Beach Lately?
Palm Beach Lately was created by my sister (Beth Beattie) and I (Danielle Norcross). We were born, raised and currently live in the Palm Beach area for 30+ years. Our soft spot for this geographical location AND our love of current trends in beauty, living, social and style are what sparked our new concept. But the key element in launching Palm Beach Lately was connecting our career paths. Beth's background in Public Relations and Special Events combined with my background as a Personal Concierge in fashion, home and travel doubled the expertise, skills, contacts and connections that were needed to launch our online guide.
How do we stay connected with Palm Beach Lately?
Palm Beach Lately is currently formatted as a blog site that publishes posts in chronological order with the most recent article featured first. We post on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and will soon be posting Monday through Friday. You can view old posts by scrolling through the site and clicking on our archives or related links. The BEST way to stay connected, though, is by signing up to receive posts via email on our home page. That way you never miss a beat! We also regularly post on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram, so don't forget to "like" and follow us on those, too!
How can I get involved with Palm Beach Lately?
We are always seeking dynamic individuals and companies who share our passion for Palm Beach to contribute to Palm Beach Lately. If you have tips, suggestions, events, pictures or anything else you would like to share with Palm Beachers, please email us at hello@palmbeachlately.com! Another great way to get involved is by becoming one of our sponsors. Our media kit outlines four inexpensive options that are very beneficial to your business! If you are interested in a media kit, please email us at hello@palmbeachlately.com.

Meet Our Sponsor: Introducing Sail To Sable
Palm Beach Lately is head over heels for the hit new lifestyle brand and our newest sponsor, Sail to Sable. While the line is quickly popping up all over the country, Sail to Sable is made for Palm Beachers. Featuring preppy and chic tunics, dresses, placemats, napkins and pillows, Sail to Sable is turning heads with a distinctive style that compliments the sun and sand.
Jennifer Stocker, the creative genius behind the brand, has used her experience in the fashion and publishing industry - working for magazines like Conde Nast Publications, GQ and Lucky - to help launch her successful new venture. Jennifer's inspiration for the company came from growing up on the water in Connecticut and visiting many beaches along the East Coast.
A few of our favorite pieces include:
Flirty Dress in Polished Peppermint or Pretty Pink
Classic Tunic Dress in Go Graziness or Patriotic Pride
Fabulous Tunic Dress in Smitten Seersucker or Nautical Navy
These are just a few of our favorites, so make sure to swing by the online shop to view the entire collection. The best part is the items are priced so you won't have to make a tough choice by only picking your favorite. You can indulge in a few of their pieces! Bravo, again, Sail to Sable - you nailed the effortless yet polished look so many of us women strive for!

Palm Beach Entertaining: Creating Occasions To Remember

Palm Beach hosts must pick up a copy of the new book Palm Beach Entertaining by Annie Falk. This memorable book provides a sneak peek into the lives and entertaining styles of some of the world's most accomplished society hosts. It is bursting with signature events, special recipes, entertaining tips and inspiring decor that represent each host's unique party and style.
Palm Beach Lately's own Beth Beattie is honored to have styled two of the tablescapes: Dinner in the Country with Karin and Joe Luter and Coastal Cool with Tracy and Matt Smith.

Dinner in the Country was a subtle yet elegant outdoor party that used uplighting to illuminate the textural bark of the oak tree, while oversized silver lanterns filled with pillar candles flickered above a teak table set with zebra-print runners, silver sculptures of game fowl and reflective square vases that held an assortment of white bulb flowers.

Coastal Cool was all about layering. A floor-length Ikat tablecloth was topped with a coarse linen runner, on which corals, sea fans and barnacles were placed in a palette of neutral tones with pops of lavender. Hammered metal chargers sat beneath graphic Jacques Bernardaud plates and gold-rimmed, crystal wine goblets and simple water tumblers added the perfect mixed and matched effect.
Proceeds from the book will assist Children's Home Society of Florida and its efforts to provide disadvantaged children and families with the tools they need to succeed.

Charitable Living: LPGA Winner And Diabetes Fighter Michelle McGann Couldn't Be Sweeter Or More Successful

Last night Palm Beach Lately attended the Michelle McGann Golf Classic Kickoff Party at The Gardens Mall. A large following came out to support the Michelle McGann Golf Fund that benefits the fight against diabetes. Michelle McGann, along with Kickoff Chair Fonda Lee, put on a very successful event that included an elaborate display of auction items, a Q&A with Michelle and special guest children with diabetes. Our favorite part? The newly opened jewelry store, Pandora, is graciously donating $500 to the Michelle McGann Golf Fund, plus 5% of every sale when you mention "Michelle McGann" AND $5 for every "like" they receive on their Facebook page through the weekend. How generous is that! But before you go, we have our very own Q&A with sweet Michelle who was diagnosed with diabetes at age 13, but went on to win 8 professional tournaments during her 24 (and counting) years on the LPGA tour.
1. What symptoms led you to get tested for diabetes?
My mom is a nurse and she was attending a seminar on diabetes. She came home and told my dad that I was diabetic. I had all the symptoms. I had lost weight, drinking excessive amounts of fluid, constant urination, sleeping all the time and ketones in my urine. The symptoms were all there and unfortunately my life changed that day.
2. What has been the toughest obstacle to overcome?
There are many obstacles to overcome on a daily basis, but I think one of the biggest ones is balancing your eating schedule. Everyday I have a different schedule so trying to plan out meals can be a challenge and I always have to be prepared for a change.
3. What has been your greatest achievement?
One of my greatest achievements has been the gift to make a difference in peoples lives with diabetes. No one asks to have diabetes and I hope to be a great role model for years to come.
4. Any advice for children who are new to the disease?
For anyone who is newly diagnosed, take it one day at a time and learn something new about what your body is telling you. Everyday is a challenge and know that no one is perfect and sometimes the blood sugars we get may not make any sense. One blood sugar at a time.
5. Favorite diabetes-friendly meal and local spots?
My favorite food is by my friend and Dr. Barry Sears. Dr. Sears created The Zone Diet and has provided all of us with diabetes many fabulous foods to help us keep our blood sugars under control. My favorite product is the Coconut/Chocolate Chip Cookie. Delicious. Favorite local spots: Brio, The Reef Grill, Frigates and best breakfast spot, Sara's Kitchen, a staple for my every weekend.
