Charitable Living: "Man Of The Year" Candidate Zac Potter

Zac Potter, Attorney at Fisher & Bendeck, P.A.

One of Palm Beach’s newcomers, Zac Potter, can typically be found enjoying a beautiful Sunday afternoon at the International Polo Club.  He is one of the spectators who intently watches the game, paying attention to the horses and the players, while generously filling his friends’ glasses with the finest champagne.  But for the next few months, Zac will be focusing his free time on a cause that is very near to his heart.  He recently signed on to campaign for the Leukemia and Lymphoma’s 2012 “Man of the Year” after losing his father to non-Hodgkins lymphoma a little more than a year ago.  Click here for his complete story and read on for his new favorite drink, past-time and why he loves Palm Beach.

1. When you aren’t working, what is your favorite past-time?

I love playing polo at Luis Escobar’s fields at Santa Clara Polo.  In particular, I love playing with him and his kids, who are already great players.

2. What upcoming Palm Beach event are you looking forward to?

I am very excited about the event that William Eubanks, the Worth Avenue interior designer, is hosting in his home in support of my Leukemia & Lymphoma Society campaign for Man of the Year.  There are a couple of things that are going to make it a unique event.  First, Mr. Eubanks has never opened his home to a public event, so this is a rare opportunity for people to see how he designed his own home.  Second, he is flying in his favorite band from Memphis, Hudson and Saleeby, to play at the party.  Between the setting and the entertainment, I think people will really enjoy themselves, while supporting a cause that is close to my heart.  For anyone interested in getting involved, please go to www.zacharypotter.com, which will have information about upcoming events.

3. Being fairly new to the area, what is the best part of living in Palm Beach?

I love the small-town Mayberry-like sense of community in Palm Beach.

4. What local cocktail must our readers try?

The best cocktail in town in my mind is the jalapeno margarita at Buccan.  It isn’t on the menu, but they keep jalapenos behind the counter because so many of us have started ordering it on a regular basis.  It is delicious, but I don’t recommend it if you are faint of heart because you  never really know how hot it is going to be.

5. What is your staple men’s fashion item for the weekend?

One of the models from America’s Next Top Model used to work at the Prada store near my apartment in New York.  She sold me this grey sport coat that I always wear to polo on Sunday.  I love it, but it might be because of who recommended it to me.
